POSITIONS

 

DESIGN INTERN

This position is for Summer 2018 through Spring 2019

In the role of the Design Intern, you’ll bring forth the vision of the Office of Innovation (OOI) across different teams to represent the program, brand, and culture surrounding our Zuventurez mission. In doing so, you’ll create marketing collateral, logos, icons, and other deliverables representing our program. As part of the OOI team, you will be involved with aspects of the marketing and branding process and be responsible for providing your design expertise along the way.


Responsibilities

  • The Design Intern will report to the Assistant Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ADOIE) and work closely with the OOI team to design and implement ongoing marketing plans to promote available services via email, print, web, and other social channels
  • Collaborate across the OOI team to determine the scope of a project, deliver creative work that effectively promotes the OOI brand and vision
  • Establish and maintain our design standards and guidelines
  • Conceptualize and execute the creation of new logos, icons, illustrations, and graphics
  • Support the creation and production of digital and print collateral including signage, brochures, and Powerpoint / Keynote decks.
  • Manage and update website graphic change requests
  • Create deliverables that are modern and sophisticated —while staying true to OOI’s design standards. Avoid being trendy.
  • Create mock-ups for proposed project pages and update them as needed
  • Participate in OOI events
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design
  • Junior or Senior class standing at start of internship
  • Advanced knowledge with industry standard tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • 2+ years experience building a visual identity across print, web, and other mediums
  • Understanding of HTML/CSS, UX/UI and video
  • A strong foundation in visual design, typography, webpage design, and layout and grid systems.
  • Keen attention to detail, especially in relation to color, typography, and spacing
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate the reasoning behind design decisions and provide constructive design feedback to OOI team
  • Must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload, and meet critical project milestones and deadlines.
  • Must be an effective problem solver. Comes up with creative solutions and considers many alternative solutions to each problem.
  • Ability to work independently, present self in a professional manner and reflect the goals and standards of APU.
  • Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment
  • Sense of humor, honesty, and enthusiasm a must!

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

This position is for Summer 2018-Spring 2019

In the role of the Communications Intern, you'll bring forth the vision of the Office of Innovation (OOI) by representing the program, brand, and culture surrounding our Zuventurez mission. As part of the OOI team, you will be involved with aspects of the digital content strategy/vision. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and experience in building creative and compelling audience-specific content for all digital channels (including blog, website, emails, social networks, etc.).


Responsibilities

  • The Communications Intern will report to the Assistant Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ADOIE) and will working alongside the marketing team to conceptualize, storyboard, and present topics and packagings that align with our goals for high-quality branding and marketing
  • Create creative content for email, website, blog, social networks, etc.
  • Learn how to use social media platforms to tell stories through content creation and build relationships in the startup world
  • Provide input into digital campaigns and day-to-day digital communication activities
  • Participate in OOI events
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelors Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field 
  • Junior or Senior class standing at start of internship
  • 1 year experience producing web, email, and social media content
  • Good editorial judgement
  • Flawless writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent storyteller, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative thinker and team player, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Well versed in the culture, core beliefs, and current news/trendings of early stage startups
  • A learner, never afraid to try new things, fail, and do it again (and again)
  • Effective problem solver. Comes up with creative solutions and considers many alternative solutions to each problem
  • Ability to work independently, present self in a professional manner and reflect the goals and standards of APU

EVENTS INTERN

This position is for April 2018-MAY 2019


In the role of the Events Intern, you'll bring forth the vision of the Office of Innovation (OOI). Under direct supervision of the Office of Innovation, the Events Intern will be responsible for assisting in the programming of and managing of all events for the Office of Innovation. He or she will be a leader on campus who has a sincere interest in spreading innovation and entrepreneurship at APU.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Marketing Intern to design and implement an ongoing marketing plan promoting available services via email, print, and other online media. (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
  • Research, brainstorm, develop, and suggest strategies for how to effectively reach all target groups.
  • Work directly with staff to advertise, promote, and market events for students and alumni.
  • Create timeline for weekly Zuventurez workshops and assign duties.
  • Lead office weekly post-event meetings.
  • Update and send out post-event surveys to audience to continuously improve each event.
  • Communicate event-related information to encourage the use of workshops and programs.
  • Acquire and organize marketing items in preparation for events, presentations, or information tables.
  • Collaborate with student interns to complete a project life-cycle.
  • Participate in OOI events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Business or Marketing major preferred.
  • Junior or Senior class standing at start of internship.
  • Events Planning experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing successful and creative/original marketing plans.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and under supervision.

VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERN

This position is for Summer 2018 through Spring 2019

 

In the role of the Video Production Intern, you'll bring forth the vision of the Office of Innovation (OOI) across different teams to represent the program, brand, and culture surrounding our Zuventurez mission. As part of the OOI team, you will be involved with aspects of video creation. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and experience in building creative and compelling audience-specific content.


Responsibilities

  • The Video Production Intern will report to the Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DOIE) and will working alongside the OOI team to conceptualize, brainstorm and present ideas that align with our goals for high-quality branding and marketing.
  • Create and edit short-form video content
  • Responsible for pre and post-production editing 
  • Collaborate with the team to draft creative content for our YouTube channel
  • Come up with new ideas and contribute to the creative process by quickly taking a story from concept to content
  • Shoot and edit video footage from both single camera and multi-camera setup
  • Clearly communicate with project key stakeholders to deliver projects on-time
  • Participate in OOI events
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelors Degree in Cinematic Arts, Film, Communications, Marketing or related field 
  • Junior or Senior class standing at start of internship
  • Proficient in the following Mac applications: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and video conversion applications
  • Familiarity with various other video formats and applications
  • Experience shooting various content such as live events, behind the scenes, and interviews
  • Subject matter expert in video trends 
  • Excellent storyteller, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative thinker and team player, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Well versed in the culture, core beliefs, and current news and trends of early stage startups
